COTTON & MILK

Justine Glanfield is a young british knitwear designer (Burberry, Lacoste), based in Brussels who has launched a very exciting ecological childrenswear label "Cotton&Milk". She has a splendid talent for choosing the colors, cuts, buttons and the quality is of very high level. It's a kind of "retro chic" style, so perfect !

The whole collection is made in Italy and is complemented by "Cotton&Milk Vintage" : see also skirts, dresses cut by Justine in vintage fabric that she finds all around the world during her travels. Indeed, her moto is " if the material already exists, I prefer to use it, no need to produce a new one !".

We completely agree with her position. We all have something to do, each one at his own level, for SAVE THE PLANET . In fashion as well as in all the other sectors ...

PIGEON & PIGEONETTE : a story about a lovely friendship

Discover in the USA where her work is published, Sarah Verroken is a young belgian freelance illustrator & graphic designer based in New Zeeland.
In her last year of study she wrote and illustraded a picture book about a sad little duck. The title of the book is "Feeling sad" and it is avalaible at Enchanted Lion Books.
Please take the time to see her website and also the one about Pigeon & Pigeonnette where you will find games, colouring pages and free download of wallpaper designed by Sarah herself ! Charming!

Pigeon & Pigeonette is also the fruit of a work made together with Dirk Derom also belgian and based as Sarah in New Zeeland where he currently works as a postgraduate in neuropsychology. He loves playing with words and this is what he did delicately in Pigeon & Pigeonnette.

Soon as the book will be avalaible in french we will let you know !

We 'll certainly have the occasion to meet Sarah this summer in Brussels and take the time to speak about her work, world, inspiration etc... Any comments or requests about Sarah and her work are welcome !

AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE : 826 VALENCIA

Here, at the 826 VALENCIA, in the Mission District (definetelely our favourite area). Such an experience !
826, first, there is a pirate store, the only independent pirate supply store. Here, you will find glass eyes, messages in a bottle, eyepatches, pirate dices, flags, tattoos, t-shirts, ... Plus all proceeds from the store go toward the 826 Valencia Writing Center.

Indeed, at the back of this incredible shop (inside the shop everyone seems to have fun all the day ! See for example the picture where a young guy was surprised but happy, to receive a mop on his head!) there is a writing center , one of the teacher and co-founder is the american writer, Dave Eggers (remember the hilarious book " A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius" ?) also known for the screenplay of Spike Jonze 's film " Where the Wild Things Are " adapted from Maurice Sendak's book. See also Eggers 's activities as a publisher : McSweeney's independent publishing house.

The San Francisco's center (a nonprofit writing and tutoring center for kids ages 6-18) is the first that Eggers opened with the benefit he earned with his first bestselling book, now 7 others centers have been created in LA, NYC, Seattle, Chicago, Ann Arbor, Boston & Michigan.

I really appreciate the idea to be a support for students( from 6 to 18) with their writing skills and a help for teachers in get their students more and more interested about the literature !
